For the past five years, I’ve been deep in the trenches working on several major, ambitious projects. While the sheer scale of the second HELIXIRx album has been teased before, what’s often gone unspoken is the fact that I’ve also been juggling multiple other ventures—coordinating with performers, locking in recording and production sessions, and running a record label alongside other businesses.
Keeping the momentum alive on social media is its own full-time job, and frankly, I haven’t got the bandwidth—or interest—in feeding the algorithm with constant updates. I haven’t abandoned any projects. I’ve just chosen not to drip-feed content or flood timelines with teaser after teaser. I know how quickly that sort of hype fatigue sets in.
Too often, I’ve seen projects in music, software, and other creative industries fall into that trap—years of promotion with nothing to show but prototypes and vague promises. Eventually it turns into a running joke: “It’s still happening, we swear—here’s a new update!” but still no release date in sight. I refuse to be that.
That’s why I haven’t dropped any singles. Sure, putting the album up for pre-order or firing up a Patreon would help financially and might give things a solid push. I don’t believe in charging people for scraps unless it’s of true benefit to them or their own ambitions.
That said, the idea of launching a Patreon where I share presets, samples, production workflows, exclusive instrumentals and alternate mixes from past releases is on my radar. It’s something I’d genuinely enjoy doing—but only if there’s actual demand for it from fans, fellow producers, or both. It’s a time-intensive path, and I’d rather focus my energy where it’s wanted but I would love to do it if people are interested in that sort of thing. I have plenty of ideas and unreleased tracks to share and am more than happy to accommodate people who would like to ask questions about the music, my production process (writing, recording, mixing etc.) and share various isolated tracks and whatnot. For more on what I had in mind if I was to start posting on Patreon, see my Patreon “Expressions of Interest” post and vote in the poll here.
In the meantime, everything’s still in motion—just not broadcast in real-time.
