Unreleased, but not-yet forgotten: For several years now, I’ve been balancing multiple HUGE music projects and maintaining the focus!
Over the past few years, I’ve accumulated a significant collection of songs and albums for various projects, many of which are ready to be mastered and released. However, they often end up sitting on the shelf for months, sometimes even years — a common challenge in the world of independent music.
After spending countless hours recording, arranging, re-arranging, re-recording, and mixing, the next step — promotion and release — requires an equally demanding level of time and energy.
Some might advise focusing on finishing one album before moving on to the next, but I firmly believe that taking a break from a project can be a crucial part of the creative process. Stepping away allows you to return with fresh ears and new inspiration, ultimately benefiting the music.
Recently, I’ve embarked on writing and recording a concept album/rock opera centered on a lifelong fascination: the RMS Titanic. Though the album is still in the pre-production stage, a great deal of research is being done to ensure the project is rich with detail. My goal is for the album to be experienced alongside an extensive collection of information, presented through expanded art books, liner notes, and more. Despite this research phase, several tracks are already nearing completion. The sound draws heavily from bands that have deeply influenced me, yet it explores new ground compared to my previous work. Think of influences like Jethro Tull, The Alan Parsons Project, and Jeff Wayne’s War of the Worlds, to name just a few.
I’m excited (and a bit scared) to see where all these projects take me. The second HELIXIRx album has consumed the majority of the past four years and has become the most ambitious and grand production I’ve ever tackled. At the same time, I’ve got a solo album that’s nearly ready for mastering, as well as new music from Sunsetron in the works. On top of that, I’m also putting together a spatial audio compilation of Empty Triangles songs. It’s an exciting and busy time creatively — despite the financial exhaustion — but I can’t wait to see how everything comes together. I owe it to the huge amount of guest performers that feature on the aforementioned music to get it out there!
