In July 2020, HELIXIRx quietly debuted with their first single, Gravity (of U & I). Despite minimal promotion, it struck a chord across the globe – racking up over 250,000 streams within days. Just a few months later, their debut album Authenticity arrived in November, deepening the connection with listeners through its distinctive sound.
Now, five years on, HELIXIRx revisits that moment with something entirely new: authenticity // low_fidelity.
While a five-year anniversary might not seem like a landmark, 2020 was a strange, suspended moment in time. Many of us were locked down, confined to makeshift studios and living rooms. Creativity found unusual paths – and HELIXIRx’s early recordings were very much a product of that environment.
authenticity // low_fidelity isn’t your typical lo-fi treatment. There’s no lazy audio degradation or washed-out retro filters here. Instead, it’s a thoughtful, atmospheric reconstruction – one that peels back the surface of the original album to uncover new textures and emotional tones. It’s lo-fi, yes, but not just in aesthetic – it’s intimate, reflective, and completely transformed.
